Slumdog Millionaire
December 15th, 2008 by ErinJeff Goldsmith’s (Creative Screenwriting Magazine) recent interview with Slumdog Millionaire writer Simon Beaufoy is definitely worth a listen. Beaufoy is an honest, humble and interesting personality. He doesn’t give any concrete advice on writing per se, but offers lots of insight into his process. You get the sense that he’s constantly thinking on a thematic level when he’s writing and it’s interesting to hear how various themes materialize for him. There’s lots to be gleaned from the interview, which was quite nice for a change. Can’t wait to see the film.

Hey Erin, I hear that Slumdog Millionaire is unbelievable… most moving film in years, etc etc. If you get a chance to see it would love to hear your thoughts!
P.S. Agreed about VCB; loved Penelope, but thought the voice over was a bit heavy-handed. Also, I rarely can buy into a Scarlett Johansen character - She doesn;t disappear behind the character, so all I see Scarlett Johansen. Loved the other characters tho, the Aunt, the fiance, Bardem… and of course Maria Elena.

Hey Max,
I hope Slumdog comes out here. I keep hearing great things about it. I’ll let you know what I think when I finally get to see it…
As for Johansson, I tend to agree, although I did think she was wonderful in Girl With a Pearl Earring.
